These hard days made me face a very challenging choice - to stay in my beloved Odessa or to help my Family evacuate. Help my old mother, my mother-in-law, my wife, who had recently undergone a surgery, and our friend with her daughter.
On the early morning of March 4, we left Odessa and only on March 11 we reached our friendsliving in Croatia, who generously gave us shelter. I was very worried about how our mothers, who are 87 and 82 years old, will endure this difficult path, but they tuned out to be real heroines.
I have set up a small workshop for myself in the kitchen, where I’m working on sketches for a future exhibition and graphics for a new book.
We are staying in a small Croatian coastal town. The locals treat us with care and try their best to help in any possible way. I was interviewed for a local newspaper to tell about my attitude towards the tragedy that happened to my country.
All our thoughts, feelings and experiences are with Ukraine and our beloved city of Odessa.
